A Brand New Year, and another Polar Vortex....

Hail! And Happy New Year too! So, it's been a busy start to the new year, hence the delay in getting this out. Thanks for your patience.

For me and my husband, our ringing in of the new year was actually really nice. For the first time in our nearly 20 years of marriage, we actually went out and stayed overnight to ring in 2015. To ensure we didn't have to worry about people on the road for what gets referred to as "amateur night", we were back in our hotel room late enough to have had fun, but definitely early enough to be safely off the road.

As the year closed, I couldn't help thinking about the rune Jera, which represents harvests and cycles, as a symbol for ending 2014. As I reflected on all the comings and goings of the last year,...having the honor being rune reader for Treibh na Tintean, and finally following my bliss of reading in a shop (Transformation), of having to let go of my old car, but getting a new one, then the loss of some good friends. Indeed the ending of some cycles and beginning of others.

Conversely, as 2015 started, and we are, in a repeat performance of last winter, "assaulted" by bitter cold (maybe Thor could send the frost giants back to Jotunheim?), I focus on the ice rune Isa, the deep glacial cold that moves out slowly, makes us move slowly, causes standstill and forces us to rest. Instead of being upset by this, I look at Isa as providing an opportunity.  Why? Well, our instinct when it's so cold is to stay indoors, hunker down and/or hibernate. That's all fine and good, but it's a great time to take care of indoor projects, both physical and spiritual.
Got any projects you're looking to start when the weather warms up? Now you may want to consider focus on the seed rune Ingwaz, and start planting those seeds of projects, hopes, and dreams. They'll take awhile to transform while they gestate, so now is a perfect time to tweak them, reassess them, even completely re-do them. It's also a great time to do some inner work with meditation, read a hard to put down book, reorganize shelves, cabinets, or whole rooms. WE are earnestly trying to get some stuff going, but admittedly, the hibernation aspect sounds much more enjoyable, a good cup of cocoa and some dvds......ahhhhhhh.

So now we have two runes providing opportunities during this cold weather snap. Will you make use of them? Or let them pass you by? Whichever you choose, may 2015 bring you what you are searching for, provide you what you need, and ultimately give you joy!

Until next time.........remember to "rune your day"!
